The new bidentate ligand 2-amino-5-phenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazole (Apods) was prepared by the reaction of benzaldehyde semicarbazone with bromine and sodium acetate in acetic acid gave. The prepared ligand was identified by Microelemental Analysis, FT.IR, UV-Vis and 1HNMR spectroscopic techniqes. Treatment of the prepared ligand with the following selected metal ions (MnII, CoII, NiII, CuII and ZnII) in aqueous ethanol with a 1:2 M:L ratio, yielded a series of complexes of the general formula [M(L)2Cl2].The prepared complexes were characterized using flame atomic absorption, (C.H.N)Analysis, FT.IR and UV-Vis spectroscopic methods as well as magnetic susceptibility and conductivity measurements. Chloride ion content was also evaluated by Mohr method. From the obtained data the octahedral structure was suggested for all prepared complexes.

Toxoplasmosis disease and its association with hepatic enzymes

In this study, 120 women with history of abortion were subject to serological tests (ELISA test) to trace cases of Toxoplasmosis. The IgG &IgM antibodies were increase (p<0.05) in the sera of women with toxoplasmosis in the percent 17.5% for IgG, 3.3% for IgM and 1.6% for IgG&IgM antibodies. The highest rate of positivity was recorded in women who suffered from abortion with age of (26-35) age group 56.3%, while the lest rate of seropositivity was recorded in women with age of (36-45) age group was 16.4%. The levels of liver enzymatic including Aminotransferases (ALT & AST) and Alkaline Phosphates (ALP) were measured in the toxoplasmosis seropositive women and compared to their respective mean values in the sera of seronegative women, the mean levels of ALT & AST and ALP were significant elevation p<0.05 in the seropositive women in comparison to the seronegative women. Moreover, there were no significant elevations in the levels of the studies biochemical parameters within the age groups of toxoplasmosis seropositive women and seronegative women. In conclusion, the concomitant rise of the serum enzymes activities and the associated changes in the levels of IgG & IgM antibodies. This process might be incriminated for the host tissue infestation by this parasite which has the ability to survive in the host cells and tissues for life and that may gives to the repeated abortions.

The preparation and spectral characterization of complexes for Co(п) Ni (п) Cu(п)
Pd(II) and Ag (I) ions with new organic heterocyclic azo dye as ligand 2-[1-(2,4-
Dichloro phenyl)Azo ]-α-Amino-1H-imidazole -4-Propionic Acid (DCIPAHs) were
prepared by reacting a dizonium salt solution of 2,4-dichloro aniline with L-Histidine
in alkaline ethanolic solution. The isolated complexes are found to have the general
formula [CoL2Cl2].H2O, [NiL2Cl2], [CuL2Cl2].H2O, [PdLCl2] and [AgL2].NO3 were
reacting from azo imidazole ligand and metal chloride (nitrate for Ag (I) in 1:1 molar
ratio (metal :ligand) for Pd (II) ion and 1:2 for the rest metal ions. These complexes
were characterized spectroscopically by infrared and electronic spectra and along with
elemental analysis‚ molar conductance and susceptibility measurements. The data show
that the ligand a bidantate and coordinates to the metal ion via the nitrogen atom of azo
and with imidazole N3 atom.Octahedral environment is suggested for Co (п) Ni (п) and
Cu (п) metal complexes but square planer for Pd (II) complex and tetrahedral forAg
(I) complex.

C and AC Electron-Transport Properties of Polyimide Foils Implanted by Co+ and Cu+ Ions

Temperature dependence of resistance in DC regime and AC electron-transport
properties in thin polyimide (PI) foils implanted by 40 keV Co+ and Cu+ ions
with fluencies range of 2.5 × 1016 to 1.25 ×1017 cm-2 at ion current densities of 4, 8
and 12 µA /cm2 were studied as function of ion fluence. It was found that in the
contrary cobalt implantation, when implantation by highest fluence (1,25 × 1017
cm-2) at ion current density more 8 μA/cm2 lead to insulator – to – metal
transition and change impedance characteristics from capacitive to inductive,
implantation by copper ions did not lead to these changes. Catalysis action of
cobalt atom on graphitization processes into carbonized polymer layer as well as
forming elongate labyrinth-like conductive structure at Co+ implantation lead to
insulator-to-metal transition and change impedance characteristics, whereas
blocking π-electrons by copper atoms and forming spherical copper clusters in
carbonized layer did not allow observe these transitions at the same regimes of
implantation.

Isolation of antibiotic , antitumer alboZ from local isolates Strepyomyces alboflavus and improving its production

The ntibiotic alboZ was isolated and purified from culture broth and mycelium of Strepyomyces alboflavus. alboZ has abroad spectrum of antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and negative bactreria . Studing the physical and chemical propereties of antibiotic were studied used thine layer chromatography , IR-spectrum ,UV-spectrum ,NMR-spectrum and suliability .Minimum inhibitory concentration was tested against five isolates of Gram positive and negative bacteria .toxic effect of the alboZ determined by LD50 of labrotory animals .Testing of the antitumor activity showed that the antibiotic antitumor activity through its induction of prophage ( λ phage).Two mutants from the exposure to gama radiation and EMS were obtained(S.alboflavus γ2 and S.alboflavus γ2E200 ), these mutants exhibited amaximum production of 1.5 and 3 g /L of antibiotic compared with wild isolate which of 1 g/L.

station of Coll. Of Agric .AL-Muthana Univ . Cadmium as heavy metals was applied at the
levels ( 0 ,4.5 , 9 ,mg Cd / kg soil) as CdCl2, while Organic matter (OM) mixture were (

Histopathological changes of secondary metabolites of Aspergillus fumigatus isolated from Lens culinaris grains in albino mice.

The study aimed to elucidate the effects caused by secondry metabolites of Aspergillus fumigatus that isolated from Lens culinaris grains in albino mice. The results showed that percentage of Lens culinaris grains contaminated by fungi was 80 % and percentage of contamination by Aspergillus fumigatus was 61%.Three groups of animals were used in this study. The first group treated by secondry metabolites of above fungi ,the second and third group used as controls groups .The results showed that these products caused considerable pathogenic effects in liver tissue of treated animals including congestion of liver sinuses ,vascular congestion , collagen fibers aggregate and Focal Aggregate of Inflammatory cells in liver tissue ,necrosis of liver cells , small nuclei intensely stained ,lost of normal structure of liver and replacement of liver cells by fatty vacuoles ,while there were no effects in control groups( A and B).
The determination of relative flow (Rf) of secondary metabolic products of fungi by ultra violate in wave 365nm ,showed that there were nine separated compounds each of one had differential color characters. Five from these compounds which had (Rf) 0.14.40,0.49,0.61,0.97 Fumigaclavine –c ,Verruculogen ,A urasperone –c ,Oxidized gliotoxin and Reduced gliotoxin respectively were determined in previous studies ,while the four compounds which had (Rf)(0.66,0.69,0.92,0.99) were not determined their physical and chemical nature and also their pathogenic effects in laboratory animals .The precent study concluded that contaminated Lens culinaris grains caused sever pathogenic effects in laboratory animals. .

The Inhibitory Effect of Peppermint and Basil Extracts on The Growth of Some Molds and Yeasts Isolated from Patients with Otitis Media in Al-Diwaniya city

This study included testing the efficacy of the aqueous and alcoholic extracts for leaves of peppermint (Mentha piperita L.) and basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) in the growth of some molds and yeasts isolated from the ear. (98) specimens were collected from patients who are suffering from infection of the ear and coming to private doctors in Al-Diwaniya city for the period from May to August (2010). (36) fungal isolates out of (53) specimens taken from patients suffering from otitis media with and (34) fungal isolates out of (45) specimens taken from patients suffering from infection of the external ear, these isolates belong to (8) fungal species with different frequency ratios and this species are: Aspergillus niger, A. fumigatus, A. flavus, A. terreus, Candida albicans, C. tropicalis, C. parapsilosis and Penicillium notatum. The results revealed that the alcoholic extract of peppermint was the most effective ,in vitro, against all of the tested isolates for: A. niger, A. fumigatus, A. flavus, C. albicans and C. tropicalis respectively, Inhibition zones at the concentration of (25) mg/ml were (31.4, 27.8, 29.6, 31.6 and 29.8) mm followed by the alcoholic extract of basil (25.8, 23.2, 22.4, 23.4 and 22.7) mm respectively, while the aqueous extract of peppermint came at the third stage where the means of inhibition zones were (19.8, 19.9, 21.3, 20.7 and 21.9) mm respectively, and the aqueous extract of basil were (19.5, 19.7, 20.8, 19.9 and 20.5 ) mm, respectively, in measuring with treatment of antifungal Ketoconazole at the concentration (20) mg/ml which the means of inhibition zones were (18.2, 16.8, 18.6, 16.5 and 17.00) mm respectively. The values of Minimal Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimal Lethal Concentration (MLC) of prepared extracts revealed that the alcoholic extract of peppermint had less (MIC) against C. albicans, and C. tropicalis reached about (0.25) mg/ml, in measuring with treatment of antifungal Ketoconazole which had less (MIC) reached about (10, 12.5) mg/ml against C. albicans, C. tropicalis respectively, while (MLC) for A. niger, A. fumigatus and A. flavus reached about (5) mg/ml. The (MIC) for alcoholic extracts of basil reached about (1.25) mg/ml for each of the C. albicans, C. tropicalis and A. flavus, whereas the (MLC) reached about (5) mg/ml for C. albicans and C. tropicalis. As concerning to the aqueous extract of peppermint, the (MIC) for C. albicans and C. tropicalis was (2.5) mg/ml. The (MIC) for aqueous extract of basil for C. albicans and C. tropicalis reached about (5) mg/ml, while the values of the (MLC) for each of the A. niger, C. albicans and C. tropicalis reached about (10) mg/ml.

Study of Some Soil Physical, Chemical and Micrabial CharaCteristics After Treated With Numbers of Earthwarms

The aim of this study was to study the effect of the added numbers of earthworms on physical, chemical and microbial characteristics in the soil. Earthworm samples were collected from orchard that located in south of Baghdad and three treatments were obtained T1 control (without earthworms), T2 10 earthworms / Bin, T3 40 earthworms / Bin, to study the physical characteristics which included temperature and water holding capacity (WHC), chemical characteristics included pH, organic matter (OM), total nitrogen (TN), potassium (K), phosphorous (P) and calcium (Ca), microbial characteristics included total bacterial count (TBC), total coliform count (TCC) count and fungi count (FC). The results obtained revealed that earthworms added (T2 and T3) have significant (P<0.05) effect on the value of soil pH, WHC, OM, TN, K, TBC, TCC and FC that started in the 7th day of study, where as no significant effect on the value of soil temperature and Ca were noticed compared with control (T1) during this study. The added numbers of earthworms to the soil have significant (P<0.05) effect, that change was great for 40 earthworms compared with 10 earthworms.

Detection of Staphylococcus aureus producing Beta lactamase among carriers restaurants workers in Al-Diwanyia Governorate

The isolation and identification of Staphylococcus aureus members from restaurant workers carrers swabs were 232 samples. (82) from ear, 73 from nose and 77 from tonsil. The results showed that 69 isolates were belong to the genus Staphylococcus , 48 of them were of Staphylococcus aureus which prevalent in tonsils (24.6%) , (51.9%) in urban community and in ages (21-30) years. But rarely isolated from nose (1.5%) in same ages while in 58.1% from rural community. 89.5% of S.aureus members showed beta lactamase production by cappilary tubes and the fast iodine methods. bacterial isolates were resistant to the PencillinG, Ampicilline, Tetracyline, Gentamycine, Cephalaxine,Cefataxine,and Cefetriaone antibiotics, while it is Susceptible to other antibiotics .
