Biochemical study of Ascorbic Acid derivatives as a pro_drug

In this research new derivatives of L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C) have been synthesized. These derivatives have been obtained by the esterification.
Selective esterification of C-3 and C-2 hydroxyl group required protecting the two hydroxyl groups at 5-6-position by conversion of vitamin C to 5-6-O-isopropylidene derivative (I).
3-(acetyl salicyloyl)-5-6-O- isopropylidene-L-ascorbic acid (III) was synthesized by treatment of (I) with acetyl salicyloyl chloride (II).
The purity of the compounds were characterized by thin layer chromatography (TLC) and infrared spectroscopy (IR).
The Kinetic study for compounds (1,3) was carried out using different buffer at pH (4,8) over 30 hours at different intervals of periods using UV spectroscopy which showed that these compounds were hydrophobic. The released aspirin was increased as the pH is increased and extended time.

The Diamagnetic Susceptibility χ, Nuclear magnetic shielding constants d one particle radial distribution function D(ri) and various one ,two electrons distances and (where d is an integer -2,-1,+1,+2) for some positive ions like Al+10,Mg+9and ,Si+11By employing the partitioning technique, to four Hartree-Fock wave functions are analyzed of K , L shells and for Singlet 1S and Triplet 3S states.

Ellagic Acid ( Pomegranate Extract ) as Potent Antioxidant for Myocardial Infarction (MI) in vitro Study

The production of reactive oxygen species in most diseases including heart disease is confirm to be the most destructive process to human cell. Potent antioxidant is needed to overcome the lipid peroxidation and oxidative strees. The effect of ellagic acid (EA) [ pomegranate extract ] on some metabolic enzymes were investigated in patients with myocardial infarction(MI).
Two ml of venous blood was obtained from thirty patients (10 male&20 female) with MI and 30 healthy individuals (10 male&20 female) as control group, the age of both genders range from 40-65 years. Serum used to determined activities of creatine kinase(CK), aspartate transaminase (AST) and alanine transaminase(ALT).
Elevated values of CK, AST and ALT activities in patient’s were found (368.66± 66.63 , 90.93±13.8 , 97.83± 32.76) respectively. These activities returned to about normal values after addition of 10 μM ellagic acid (250± 72.07 , 58.3 ±14.48 , 64.77± 20.26 ) respectively.The results demonstrated no significant difference in results between the both genders.
A conclusion of the present study revealed the effectiveness of ellagic acid in treatment of patients with MI invitro study which ellagic acid act by different mechanisms to protect and prevent heart diseases.

Chemical Study of Zingiber officinale dried Rhizomes powder and their role on Germination and Growth of Triticum aestivum

Green house experiment was undertaken during the period from 10/11/ 2009 till 10/12/2009 to asses the role to the addition of Zingiber officinale (ginger) dried rhizomes powder at the concentrations of 4,8,12 gm/kg of soil in addition to control treatment on germination and growth of Triticum aestivum .Separation of chemical compounds in ginger rhizomes by using thin layer chromatography (TLC) method was done also. The results show that there was increase in shoot elongation (cm) and dry weight (mg) , leaves number, leaves area (cm2) dry and fresh weight of root (mg) with increasing concentration , also shoot fresh weight increased at concentrations of 4 and 8, in addition chlorophyll content decreased at concentration of 12gm /kg.

Effect of sources and levels of organic matter on some soil physical properties and corn yield(Zea mays L

The aim of this research were studied the effect of the sources and the levels of organic matter in some soil physical properties and corn yield. A field experiment was conducted during spring 2009 in the farms of the College of Agriculture /University of Baghdad in a Silty Clay Loam soil and classify in gratgroup (Typic Torrifluvent) . Three sources of organic matter were used as: sheep manure ,cow manure and dry alfalfa with four levels 8,16,24 and 32 ton.ha-1 in addition to the control treatment according to randomized complete block design and a split plot arrangement .The results were showed that the increasing of organic matter improved soil physical properties in level obvious at the 32 ton.ha-1 lead to low bulk density from 1.29 in control treatment to 1.15 Mg. m-3, increased of mean weight diameter form 617 to 1109 µ , increased of saturated hydraulic conductivity from 1.42 to 3.34 cm . hr-1 and decreased penetration coefficient from 191 to 134 Kpa .The corn yield was increased by addition of organic matter and the same level of 32 ton.h-1 was increasing in yield for the all sources of organic matter from 5.59 to

Detection of apple Juice contaminated with carcinogenic mycotoxin Patulin

Patulin is a secondary metabolite and carcinogenic mycotoxin produce by several fungi. The occurrence of patulin was confirmed in apple and apple juice in the present study .for producing patulin in apple and apple juice. The present study confirmed the occurrence of patulin concentrations in local and imported concentrated apple juice samples, the higher patulin concentration was found in sample of imported concentrates apple juice with 50µg/L, whereas the lowest level of patulin revealed was 10µg/L in local apple juice sample .

This study aimed to investigation the role of PG F2α on levels of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) & thyroid hormone (T3 & T4) .
The experiment was conducted on (16) adult male of domestic rabbits , it's weight to range between (1.855 – 1.960) kg and it's age between ( eight months – one year) . The animals were given PG F2α subcutaneous daily for ten days within used amounts (10 ,20, 30) µg /kg of body weight .
The animals is killed after (24 ) hours from the last dose of treatment . The blood sample were collected from heart ( by heart puncture ) for measured of hormones levels .
The results reveal followed when comparison with control group :
1- A significant increase (P<0.01) in thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) level
2- There is increase (not reach for significant level) in triiodothyronine (T3) level.
3- There is significant increase( P< 0.05) in thyroxin ( T4 ) level in groups which treatment with (10 ,20 ) µg /kg while the increase not significant in group that treatment in(30) µg /kg .

The study was conducted to evaluated to efficiency of Isolate bacteria Bacillus subtilis and its extract to control of powdery mildew on cucumber caused by Sphaerotheca fuliginea under greenhouse condition, experiment results cleared that significant reduceof infection percetage of powdery mildew of plants infection and that treatment with bacterial extract to 0.6%, in second step being bacteria suspension and chemical fungicide (Bupirimate) wich were 10% and 13% respectively that are differ significantly with control treatment(distil water) wich was 87%.
The study was conducted to tested effect of bacterial concentration in control of cucumber infection by Sphaerotheca fuliginea ,rat percent leaf surface covered by powdery mildew growth reduced significantly to 0.0,0.0 in tow used concentrations 1000 M/mL&10000 M/mL respectively when control treatment(concentrations 0 M/mL) reached to50.3% significantly, the fresh weight of plant with regard to (10.19, 12.56) gm/ plant in plants treatment with concentrations 1000 M/mL&10000 M/mL respectively and differ significantly with control treatment(concentrations 0 M/mL) that reached to 4.47 gm/ plant.
tested Effect of spray frequency of plant infection with powdery mildew of Sphaerotheca fuliginea every (2,4,6)days with bacterial extract was done, experiment results cleared that significant reduce of rat percent leaf surface covered by powdery mildew growth to (0,1.6, 3.90) respectively with no differ significantly, rat percent leaf surface covered by powdery mildew growth increased in plant spraied with distil water only every (2)days (control treatment) to 50.3%, the fresh weight of plants sprayed every (2,4,6)days with bacterial extract were (14.2, 13. 4, 15.1) gm/ plant respectively with no differ significantly when reduce significantly to 4. 47 gm/ plant in control treatment.

Study of pathology changes in blood parameters associated with Entamoeba histolytica in male and female in AL-Qadysia city

The present study Know the pathologic changes in blood picture associated with Entamoeba histolytica by measuring the range of white and red blood cells and hemoglobin for adult males and females .
This study include collection of 108 blood samples from adult persons their age ranging between (16-50) years ,these samples are divided according to three ages ,also the samples are divided in to 60 male and 48 female samples.
The present study revealed RBC, Hb average decrease with significant increase in white blood cells in male and female. there is a significant change in blood picture with age and sex.

Etiology of Respiratory tract infections using Physiological markers patterns for diagnosis in Hillah patients

In this study, 210 respiratory patients' specimens were collected to reveal the main causative agents of respiratory infections. The study performed from 1/12/2008 to 1/7/2009 in Babylon province (Marjaan hospital , Babylon Maternity and Children Hospital and Al-Hillah Teaching Hospital).
Bacterial infection represented by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (24.76%), Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus MRSA (15.32%), Streptococcus pneumoniae (12.8%), Mycoplasma pneumoniae (10.95%), Staphylococcus aureus (9.52%), Haemophilus influenzae (8.1%), Chlamydia pneumoniae (7.14%), Moraxella catarrhalis (6.2%) and Acintobacter spp. (5.23%).
Sex distribution of Respiratory infection causes isolated from patients formed 124(59%) for male while 86(41%) for female. The age (1-9 years) formed the highest ratio of respiratory infection 50(23.8%).
Residential distribution of Respiratory infection causes isolated from patients found to be higher in rural than urban area; 81(38.6%) for urban patients while 129(61.4%) for rural patients.
Distribution of pneumonia Cases according to Family History of Asthma and Severity
Found to be major cause of sever pneumonia 105(50%). 133 (63.3%) pneumonia patients found smoking. other physiological measurements found revealed higher than normal value like C-reactive protein, ESR, Total WBCs.

Study on Effect temperature of substrates on Optical Properties of (CuS) Thin Films

(CuS) thin films was prepared by Spray Pytolysis Method (SPM). Glass substrates with (1 * 2.6 * 7.6) cm were used at different temperature (180oC، 190oC ، 200oC) .
The optical properties of the (CuS) films such as absorbance and transmittance have been analyzed using (UV – 1601) instrument at the wavelength range (200 – 1,100,00) nm. The optical band gab energy has been obtained from the plot between (αhv) and (hv) was ( 2.1 ) eV. The absorption spectra of the films showed that this compound is a direct band gap and this gap decrees with substrates temperatures .

Synthesis 4-phenyl -1-alkyl-1,2,4-triazoline-5-one derived from D- fructose

The aim of the present work is the synthesis of new carbohydrate derivatives containing 1,2,4-triazole from D-fructose . To obtain these derivatives, the diacetone fructose (1 ) was chosen as the starting material, which was obtained from the reaction of anhydrous fructose with dry acetone in presence of anhydrous ferric chloride. Oxidation of ( 1) with potassium permanganate in potassium hydroxide solution gave the acid ( 2). Esterification of the acid with dimethyl sulphate gave the methyl ester (3 ). Treatment of the methyl ester (3 ) with hydrazine hydrate gave the hydrazide (4 ), which is the desired Chiron. The hydrazide (4 ) was used for the preparation of 1,2,4-triazole-5-one (6 ) derivative. These compounds was synthesized by the intramolecular cyclization of the semicarbazide derivative ( 5), which was obtained from the reaction between the hydrazide ( 4) and phenylisocyanate. Alkylation of (6 ) with different alkyl halides give (6a,6b ).
All the synthesized compounds were characterized by the following techniques : CHN analysis and FTIR spectra . The antibacterial activity for their compounds were studied against three selected micro-organisms Eschericha coli , Klebsiella and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
